Twin Explosions in Iran during Qasem Soleimani Memorial: ISIS Claims Responsibility

Within hours of the tragic death of Iranian commander General Qasem Soleimani, the Islamic State (ISIS) released a statement claiming responsibility for two devastating suicide bomb attacks at the Columbarium of the Martyr's Grave in Tehran. Hundreds of people had gathered to pay their respects to the fallen general when the blasts took place, resulting in widespread destruction and numerous fatalities. This latest attack has raised alarm bells and raised serious questions about the military capabilities of ISIS and its ongoing campaign of terror. In this blog post, we'll look at the details of the attack and what it could mean for the stability of the region.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has taken credit for the twin explosions in Iran on Wednesday, which resulted in the reported deaths of 103 people. In a statement issued on Thursday, ISIS asserted that two suicide bombers went off while hundreds of people were gathering next to the tomb of General Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian leader who was killed in a US strike in 2020.

The statement made no mention of the Islamic State group's affiliate that was responsible for the attack, nor did it provide any new information regarding the Iran twin explosions. However, the way the explosions were carried out was not unlike how ISIS had attacked its targets in the past. This was the biggest strike on Iran since the Islamic revolution of 1979, and the attack incited significant resentment among the country's elite.

President Ebrahim Raisi accuses Israel and the US

. "I warn the Zionist regime: Do not doubt that you will pay a heavy price for this crime and the crimes you have committed," Raisi told CNN.
Really? Mohammad Jamshidi, the political deputy of the Iranian president, stated on X, the previous Twitter platform, "A fox smells its own lair first."
Do not err. Terrorism is merely a tool, and the US and Zionist regimes (Israel) bear the blame for this crime," he continued.

Experts disagreed with the nation's political leadership, pointing out that the attack doesn't appear to follow the usual patterns of Israeli strikes against targets within Iran. The International Crisis Group's Ali Vaez, the project director for Iran, asserted that the attack's methodology was linked to the Islamic State.

Regarding the Iran twin explosions, Israeli officials declined to comment.
